501 Lost Songs - August 2011

Although most of the songs are listed in numerical order, I don’t think that the ranking represents the best or worst. In several sections the numbering disappears. Most of the selections are made by band members and music industry people. Unfortunately on most of the selections, there was no indication where to find the tracks today, however most of the selections that interested me I was able to track down on either you tube or one of the music streaming sites.

Personnel notes. Find it difficult to fathom out the criteria for this particular list of lost songs set out by the compilers. As with a lot of these lists, several of the songs that crop up that are frankly not that lost. E.G. Cheap Trick – I Want You To Want Me - at # 193. Also a big chunk of the 1980’s selection, crops up on daytime radio in the UK almost religiously every other day. Other tracks are so obscure, that only faint memories of someone hearing a particular song at a sound check secures it’s inclusion!

It’s also good to see an old acquaintance mentioned a couple of times, one JC Carroll, solo and as The Members guitar man..
